by Peter Jenkins FRAS

I'm a retired IT Manager and was previously a qualified professional photographer (British Institute of Professional Photographers - BIPP) I have a keen interest in astronomy and took up astrophotography some five years ago. I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS) in 2017

All photographs featured on this site have been taken from my light polluted garden near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire using the equipment pictured on these pages and all during the last 24 months.

My images have been published in BBC Sky at Night, Astronomy Now and Sky & Telescope Magazines. The Heart Nebula (below left) was NASA Astronomy picture of the day (APOD) on 27th August 2017. The Heart Nebula is also published in Philip's 2019 Stargazing

I am shortlisted in Royal Observatory's Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018 (and was also shortlisted in 2017) I have recently written equipment reviews for BBC Sky at Night Magazine.

I was one of the Lecturers at IAS (International Astronomy Show) October 2018 providing two talks "Deep Sky Atrophotography" & "How to Process Deep Sky Images"

I provide Astrophotography talks for Photographic and Astronomical Societies in the UK.
